how i help make food work for you
My aim is to give you several ways to discover how food can work for you:
- Nutritional Therapy consultations to give you personal guidance on eating for your health and wellbeing.
- Cookery workshops to give you new ideas for simple, tasty recipes you can use every day - these can be individual, or small groups.
- Nutrition in a Nutshell - guided practical journey through the What, Why and How of eating for good health - information, food, cooking and recipes.
- Nutrition in the Kitchen - one-to-one sessions tailored to your specific needs, giving you food to take home along with a repertoire of easy to make, nutritious and delicious meal ideas.
- Helping you with your nutrition plan by sharing recipes and ideas with you, coaching you and helping you set up your kitchen to make it easier to stick to the plan.
My Philosphy
I believe most of us work best on a mixed diet, with adequate protein (including fish and meat), good quality fats and LOTS of vegetables, with lower carbohydrates than we're used to.
My courses are based on this principle, and many people feel better on this approach and find it easy to stick to.
I also believe we don't need 'fancy foods' - hard to come by, expensive and with high food miles. Much of what grows in this country is good for us and provides us with a healthy diet.
I think it is important to care about the environment, so local, seasonal, organic food plays a big part in my teaching and my catering. What is good for the environment also tends to be good for us.
Vegetarians and vegans need to make sure they are ticking all the nutritional boxes, and I am happy to advise on this as well. If I don't feel I can help, I will tell you straight away.
I likel to focus on variety and quality; by eating a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, pulses, proteins and fruits along with carefully chosen fats, we are more likely to tick lots of nutritional boxes than if we pick on superfoods and special diets. All good quality, unprocessed food is super food, in my opinion!
