Documentary about why Cholesterol is NOT bad for us!

http://muvi.es/2011/65978

Click on the above link to watch $tatin Nation, a comprehensive look at what cholesterol does in the body, why it is important, and why reducing cholesterol with statins may not be as beneficial as it's cracked up to be.

We need cholesterol in our bodies - it is the building block for all our hormones and vitamin D, among many other things.  It is important for the structure of all our cells, which determines how well those cells take in nutrients and oxygen, and excrete waste products.

Statins not only lower cholesterol in the body, but they also lower CoQ10, which is a vital enzyme for energy production.  Ironically, the heart is a very high user of CoQ10, which means that statins may actually create rather than solve heart problems.

In studies, statins have shown no increase in life expectancy for people who have never had any kind of heart problem (that's 75% of all people prescribed statins, by the way); this is known as 'primary prevention'.  There is a possibility they may help people who have had heart issues, ie 'secondary prevention', so it's important to know why they are being prescribed.
