Tina's KITCHEN
Tina's Kitchen developed as a 'show and tell' nutrition cafe offering lunch three days a week so people could see and experience how nutrient dense, carefully thought out food tastes and looks.
Having stopped the catering side of the business, I'm focussing now on showing and telling much more about nutrition, healthy eating and tasty cooking. See Dates for your diary for the autumn programme so far, and please contact me if there's anything you think I may be able to help with.
My view is that when we feed ourselves well, with enough protein, good quality fats and plenty of vegetables, we ‘need’ less sweet foods and empty foods.
Here are some of the things I recommend to make sure that your food is as healthy as possible and helps to make you feel good:
o Include vegetables, especially greens, in just about everything you make, helping you to reach your 5-a-day and more.
o Protein has so many benefits including blood sugar balancing and weight control. Include some protein every time you eat - it is the most satiating food and is nutrient dense. It also supplies amino acids which are the building blocks of neurotransmitters (brain chemicals), digestive juices and much more.
o Herbs and spices all add nutritional value - use them daily; even dried herbs have some benefit.
o The pith and peel of whole (organic) lemons and limes contain important and valuable antioxidants. The slightly bitter taste also can help retrain our taste buds and stimulate digestive juices.
o Use only olive oil, coconut oil, butter and animal fat, and avoid vegetable and sunflower oils and margarines which can contribute to inflammation in the body.
Tina’s Kitchen – Moving On!
I’m really excited to be telling you about the next phase of Tina’s Kitchen. Providing nutritious and delicious lunches for nearly five years has been a hugely rewarding experience and has given me the chance to talk about food and nutrition to lots of people, hopefully making small differences to their food choices and increasing understanding of how food can affect our health and wellbeing.
I decided to move on when I realised that what I love doing most is talking and sharing, showing and telling, and without a clone it’s not possible to do everything I want to do.
Although closing this particular door is sad, and I will miss the little community which has developed over the years, the prospect of exploring the many different ‘doors’ I can open is hugely exciting and positive. I hope you will feel this too, and some of the ideas I have are:
Course and workshop venues will vary, and one option will be that if you have a kitchen big enough to host 6-8 people and are happy to do so, you get the course or workshop free. Nutritional therapy can take place in my office or at your home, so that I can help make it easier to eat well in your own space.
I’ll be taking a break over the summer and will keep you informed of plans and progress through my newsletter. If you are not already on the mailing list, please sign up on the home page of this website. I will also post on Instagram @tinaskitchenlewes and periodically advertise in Viva Lewes. You can also, always, email me, tinadeubert@gmail.com to ask for an update.
